Tougher Xray T3

x_302047-1024x682

This new part will be included as option in all future T3 kits & provides stronger front end for indoor tracks with unforgiving track markers. Please note this cars was designed around the small separate suspension mounts & this #302047 one piece will stiffen the front end & reducing steering.

CLICK HERE to see this dramatic video as to why you should not need this part unless you race/crash on the toughest of indoor tracks.

RC DISCO WILL PROVIDE FREE OF CHARGE (AT ITS COST) THIS PART TO ANY UK T3 OWNERS WHO FEEL THEY NEED THIS EXTRA STRENGTH

UPDATE – XRAY ANNOUNCED THAT THEY SHIP FOR FREE TO T3 OWNERS

Full text from internal XRAY email is as follows:

There are some T3 customers who have experienced injury to the front of the chassis where the rear suspension holders of the front suspension are mounted. This problem may occure after some serious or just correctly oriented crash. The T3 was long term tested by team drivers around the world and before the production the final design of the car was tested hundreds of hours with plenty of serious crashes with no such a problem. Therefore we expect this problem will be mostly related to the style of the track (track markers/pipes).

Here is a report on this matter from Martin Hudy:

Based on the few reports of the problem with chassis after crashes we have organized last weekend a crash test session. Around 30 local drivers, mostly with T3, participated and tested at a very difficult track with strong pipe boards and triangle designed corners. There were hundreds of crashes during the day with some of really brutal crashes in full power but none of the chassis have broken. As we could not simulate any of the reported situation we made another test. We took production chassis, mounted suspension holder, fixed the chassis into a clamp and used hammer to hit the suspension holder directly with huge force but still with no breakes (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LX9BEZrIX0g)

On the other hand we believe to those reports where after a crash the chassis was injured. Maybe it was just the “correct” angle or just the proper crash. But I want to point out that even in such a situation when the material is injured around the holder, it still can be used.

The T3 was designed for high competition racing. The bulkheads were designed to get maximum steering and traction and that is why the single stands are used as they were purposely designed for being single stands and they were proved to be strong enough in long term tests. For those drivers who experience crashes and injuries to the chassis we have now quickly designed optional 1-piece alu suspension mount which will reinforce the chassis. This alu holder is now in production and will be ready to ship by end of this week. I just want to point out that the 1-piece alu holder will reinforce the chassis but will also make the front suspension stiffer which will make the car little less steering responsive.

We expect that in many cases customers will not have any problems, especially those running outdoors.

All future kits from now onwards will include also this 1-piece suspension mount.
