Hong Nor Take Second In Malta

HongNor2nd

Here is a race report from Hong Nor team driver Ramon Cassar who took second place at the truggy race in Malta last Sunday! There were four heats for qualifying, the best four drivers entered in the final directly and half of the others went into semi- finals.

1st Heat – was out of the race as I had engine issues.

2nd Heat – was out half way due to the same issues with the engine and we found out that the centre bearing almost failed on me.

3rd Heat – Team driver Henry managed to get me a spare engine but time was to tight so didn’t manage to race.

4th ( Last ) Heat – was on revenge mode, I came first out of the pack and third overall so I passed directly to final even though the engine power band was so different.

The main final was a 30 minute race. With the first lap I was having a hard time keeping pace against the front two as I was being disturbed by the others. There wasn’t enough space. I was catching quite well half way through and managed to get a second place and very close to the winner. Our another team driver Frank had a tough time with the car/engine setup and had issues. He was in the finals with us in around sixth. Race was honoured to the late Anthony Borg who unfortunately left our world and thanks go to the organisers Henry and Simon for the timing equipment!
