Jordan Banks, Joe Joyce, Steven Bond, Stan Gill & Mark Bailey took part in this year’s Truggy Nationals Held at 3 completely different tracks around the UK.

The final round was an excellent days racing for the team, the usual banter was being thrown around with many laughs in the pits. Steven Bond after a short break, attended the meeting hoping for a good result. Joe Joyce & Stan Gill were in contention for a top 3 place and Jordan and Mark were also looking for a good finish.

The Championship title had already been decided! Or had it? So it was up to the rest of the drivers to fight for the top 5 positions and they did. After a tuugh 7 rounds of qualifying SMD had 3 drivers in the top 10, Joe 4th, Stan Gill in 7th and Jordan Banks in 10th all qualifying straight into the A-main. Steven Bond & Mark Bailey were 11th & 24th after some setup issues.

A great race in the C final for Mark Bailey put him into a bump up position for the B final with Steven Bond. The B final would prove hard for both drivers, Bondy lead from the start taking no prisoners until engine issues took him out of the race with 3 minutes to go! His lead was enough to make the last bump-up position into the A final. Mark Bailey had clutch issues 18minutes in after a great drive in the C final.

In the A final it was up to Joe, Stan and Jordan Banks, the start was tough for many with 14 cars on track ! The leaders were left to battle things out with Joe chasing hard in 3rd after lap 2, Jordan and Stan were in a battle royal with Darren Haden Ball & Piers Pearson. Different pit stops strategies brought these drivers together for most of the 35minute race and the battle continued until the end of the final. Joe kept a steady and consistent pace to take 3rd on the day and 3rd place overall in the Championship.

Stan Gill finished 6th on the day pipping Piers by a few seconds giving him 4th Overall in the series, Jordan finishing 8th on the day and 8th in the Series just 1 point above Steven Bond in 9th place.

All in all a fantastic result for the SMD team, the team have had an awesome time racing the new LRP truck this year with some very good results, it’s been a challenge and one that they have enjoyed and hope to improve on in 2011.
