Serpent Cobra S811 New Radio Box

Serpent introduces the new radio-box for the Serpent Cobra S811. The new radio-box offers a solution for the brake-throttle servo-issues, by placing the throttle-brake servo much more forward. Simultaneously it offers many more advantages as explained below.

The current position of the throttle-brake servo is very far to the back. Today’s modern generation of digital servo’s seem not durable enough to absorb the hard bumps which occur after landing/jumps. Too many drivers had issues with this. Serpent gave some tips on how to mount the servo better and/or use some foam rubber spacers, but this still did not work with all drivers.  So Serpent decided to redo the radio-box design in such way that most modern servo’s can be used.  Still, in Serpent’s opinion, the servo makers have work to do, as we see too many servo’s breaking, also in other brands of cars. It’s no fun to leave a race or final due to this.

The new radio-box and layout, which Billy Easton designed, actually offers many more advantages, as listed here.

What Are The Changes And Advantages?

  • 1)         Servo is relocated the farthest away from the engines vibrating epicentre.
  • 2)         Servo is relocated the farthest away from the abuse on the rear end, whether under jump landings or rear end bump impacts.
  • 3)         Transponder was moved further forward, and both older and also latest version transponders (with small holder) fit.
  • 4)         Carburettor was rotated for easier access of high speed and idle speed needles
  • 5)         Brake Ratio was improved to 1:1 ratio to take the strain off the servo
  • 6)         Servo pull speed was improved 10% for better response.. If you use a servo that was .13 in transit speed. it will now perform like .11 on throttle, but still remain .13 on brake pull.(This improves response on throttle, but retains torque on braking.  (Also though the speed is adjustable by the user. If he wants faster response than provided by way of shims)
  • 7)         New layout helps retain almost the same balance from previous layout
  • 8)         Servo heights are now more adjustable so you can always maintain lowest possible CG , using servo spacers
  • 9)         Servos are mounted in a new way that reduces the need for extra inserts and always maintains a safe distance from the servo walls.
  • 10)       New styling matches the overall cars appearance even better (although of course this is subjective to all)
  • 11)       Double collar now with machined diameter, so you can adjust the drag brake on the fly during warm up of a race
  • 12)       Servos can be changed more easily without having to remove radio tray
  • 13)       Fits original S811 Body shell
