The BRCA British Winter Open Championship (BWOC) was hosted by the Hereford Radio Car Club who, after a late enforced venue change, put on a great weekend for the drivers. The turnout wasn’t the highest, but there was still a strong level of competition for the win. In 2WD, Tom Yardy took pole position with his mid-motored evolution of the Associated B4.1 although the finals however, had a wild-card thrown into the mix when in the final round of qualifying, a shock absorber leaked onto the track making some sections extremely slippery!  This played into the hands of recent Schumacher Cougar SV convert Danny McGee from third on the grid who went on to take the win on the last lap of the final leg after an uncharacteristic error by Tom. Lloyd Storey backed up team-mate Danny to finish off the podium.

The 4WD event saw a more open track and more consistent grip. This time is was Ellis Stafford who ruled qualifying to take pole position. The finals were just as thrilling as Tony Truman and Phil Sleigh took it to Ellis and again it went to the wire, although this time there were no last minute mistakes. Ellis taking the overall win with his Kyosho Lazer FS2 from the Associated B44.1’s of Tony and Phil.
