One week ago, the final of the Alpen Cup, a racing series based in Germany, Austria, Italy and Switzerland, was held at the MRT Rosenheim club. Among the 65 participants was Shepherd driver Maxi Vogl, who showed good performance all the weekend.
In qualifying he managed to secure a direct spot in the final behind Christian Wimberger and Felix Heyse. At the start of the final, Wimberger made a mistake and crashed at the end of the straight. Heyse and Vogl took over and increased the gap on the rest of the field. The lead changed many times due to a different pit strategy and in the middle of the race, Heyse made a mistake and slipped onto the grass. His mechanic Robert Pietsch had to put him back on the track, and this allowed Vogl to increase his lead to two laps which he kept until the chequered flag. Heyse finished second in front of Shasa Lackner completing the podium.
