X Factory and Bruno Heremans Win Benelux Champs

The combined Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg Championship Series concluded on 25 September with a surprise win by Bruno Heremans and his X–6 Squared. Going into the last race at Vlijmen, Netherlands, X Factory’s Stefan Mesker held a one point lead over Elvo after six races in the seven race series with the best five to count. Heremans and team mate Stefan Mesker were the only two drivers in with a chance for the title with Elvo just one point behind Stefan.

The grass track deteriorated slowly through the day, becoming rougher, and many drivers found themselves on their lids unexpectedly. Heremans drove his X–6 Squared carefully but quickly from fourth on the grid to win the first two A A final legs and with it the overall Championship. “I changed front tyres and shock oil between qualifying and the finals and my X–6 Squared was very stable on this rough surface,” said Heremans after the race.
Stefan Mesker, the 2009 Netherlands Champ and 2010 Benelux Champ, came second in the series this year and therefore won the Netherlands Championship again.
