Insight - ECX Smash

This 1:18 scale package should now be available in your local hobby shop and is a greater starter for anyone looking to get into RC cars. The packaging hides a hobby grade car, which is run purely on AA batteries, but can be upgraded to run from a rechargeable battery pack. The looks of the Smash are borrowed from the world of monster trucks and with its van-style body shell, it wouldn't look out of place crushing cars! The basic 2WD layout is powered by a 380-size motor whilst the four oversized wheels and Dynamite SpeedTread tyres are kept in-touch with the ground courtesy of the independent four wheel suspension complete with friction dampers and coil-over springs.

In stock form, it wont appeal to those used to high-speed vehicles, but then its not targeting that kind of potential buyer. If you in a confined space though or want to have some fun in the house, the Smash is going to cause arguments on whose turn it is next! The Smash is available in a choice of colours and runs on 27MHz technology keeping the price down. Look out for a full review in a future issue of Racer Magazine.
