Snowbird Nationals Report – Day 2

Check out what Scott Cramer has to say on Day 2 – and he’s almost live!

Well, day 2 (Wednesday) at the 2010 Snowbird Nationals is in the books and it was another full day of practice for on-road and oval. For the final round (they ran them by heat races), it was a chance to see what everyone had up their sleeves and who would be the one to watch. No one really stood out and it was the usual top dogs setting the pace. The true test will come once the first qualifier hits the track Thursday morning.

The hot topic still seems to be the fierce competition that is going on…Tekin, Advanced and Castle seem to be the top players in the spec classes and LRP has a new model they are running. Who will come out on top…we’ll find out in a couple of days! One other concern drivers have is traction…the lack of it. Most of the drivers come off of the track looking for more…it definitely isn’t the super high traction Snowbird tracks of the past.

You are seeing some extremes in the mod class as well. Those running the Tekin, Advanced and Castle systems, can actually get away with running a 10.5. Those without, are running the typical 3.5 to 5.5. Once again, it will be something to watch come qualifying time.

Below is a list of the top five in each class…it’s only practice, but it might give you some indication of who’s going fast.

Check out the cool video showing off some of the trick products on display in the Hobbico booth and a couple of laps with Futaba Team Driver Paul Lemieux’s super quick Mod Rubber car.
