Union Square Grand Prix

After two days of close competition Andy Moore and Mark Stiles emerged winners of the very first Union Square Grand Prix.

The event proved a major success for both racers and the sport in general as the organisers took RC racing to the masses. The event was as much a show as it was a race, but the organisers managed to balance a competitive race for the drivers with a hands on experience for the 10,000 people that passed through the Union Square centre over the weekend.

Andy Moore was pushed all the way by eventual second place man Phil Chambers, next up was Phil’s Xray team mate Johnny Aird, the track was small but technical and racing was close which added to the spectacle.

In the 1:12 class late arrival Mark Stiles dominated qualifying (Mark was forced to change his travel plan due to the volcanic ash and cancellation of his flight), in the finals Mark was made to work hard for his win and was pushed by the likes of Chris Clark, Andy Sawyer and Tom Jefferies, Mark took the victory with two second places and a win in the last final, Andy was second with Chris third.
