Sunday May 9th 2010 will be remembered as the day the inaugural Welsh Open Championship kicked off, with 4 very challenging courses and a lot of competitive spirit.

Course 1

Although this course seemed to be tricky, 4 drivers managed to get a clear run, with a further five drivers also putting themselves into contention.

Scores From Course 1:

  • 1st: Neilus (N1E Berg) -10 (3:42)
  • 2nd: upandover (Beatlejuice Bully) -10 (4:57)
  • 3rd: Tony Clee (Vanquish Berg) -10 (5:03)
  • 4th: Skyhigh (Bully) -10 (5:23)
  • 5th: Ruffryder (T1E Berg) -4
  • 6th: perfectsib (Losi) -1
  • 7th: Raving Rich (Kamikaze Berg) +5
  • 8th: Welshwizzard (Axial AX10) +23

  • 10th: Charlie (Berg) +36
  • 11th: vwgolfdriver (Axial AX10) +115
  • 12th: Rob West (Axial SWX) +135

Course 2

With the exception of two drivers, everyone failed to clear a difficult and impossible gate 7 (one of whom didn’t even get to attempt it as they timed out). A second clear round from Neilus helped him establish his lead from the course 1 even further.

Scores From Course 2:

  • 1st: Neilus (N1E Berg) -10
  • 2nd: Tony Clee (Vanquish Berg) +6
  • 3rd: upandover (Beatlejuice Bully) +12
  • 4th: Raving Rich (Kamikaze Berg) +13
  • 5th: perfectsib (Losi) +15 (7:46)
  • 6th: Ruffryder (T1E Berg) +15 (9:36)
  • 7th: Charlie (Berg) +47
  • 8th: Sam Sibley (Venom Creeper) +51

  • 10th: Rob West (Axial SWX) +75
  • 11th: Skyhigh (Bully) +111
  • 12th: vwgolfdriver (Axial AX10) +128

As the morning session ended, little did anyone know that the afternoon would prove to be even more difficult…

Course 3

Although 3 drivers managed to get minus runs (2 of which were clear), those who even made the slightest mistake were punished severely. Neilus used this to stretch his advantage even further

Scores For Course 3:

  • 1st: Ruffryder (T1E Berg) -10 (5:19)
  • 2nd: perfectsib (Losi) -10 (6:03)
  • 3rd: Neilus (N1E Berg) -8
  • 4th: Raving Rich (Kamikaze Berg) +14 (8:04)
  • 5th: Tony Clee (Vanquish Berg) +14 (8:10)
  • 6th: upandover (Beatlejuice Bully) +24
  • 7th: Charlie (Berg) +29
  • 8th: Skyhigh (Bully) +34
  • 9th: Sam Sibley (Venom Creeper) +39
  • 10th: Welshwizzard (Axial AX10) +48
  • 11th: vwgolfdriver (Axial AX10) +60
  • 12th: Rob West (Axial SWX) +93

With Neilus riding off with the lead, there were a few contenders for second place going into the 4th and final course.

Course 4

Due to the completely impossible gate 3, nobody managed to get a minus run (let alone a clear run). This course also impacted the way the first round finished.
