The Associated TC5 dominates the Pro Stock class at round one of the BRCA national series.

Last year we generally started our touring car national reports with how well the super touring guys did and how the pro stock members of the team struggled, well it’s a new season and its all change on the track!

From the very start of qualifying the TC5 showed its intent in pro stock. FTD was fought out between Zak Smith and team new member Chris Slater. The pair dominated qualifying with Chris taking FTD and sitting on pole for the A final with Zak in third and Steve Lander in sixth.

To some on lookers the result looked a one off but if you look back to this meeting last year the team had merely picked up where they off in 2009. A strong finish to last season saw Zak finish second in the A final here last year, so it was good to see the team carry that momentum forward in to 2010.

The three A finals were real classics and Zak took the win in the first and final leg while Chris took leg two. So a brilliant win for Zak with Chris second, Steve Lander was just off the podium in fourth.

For the modified guys it was just one of those meetings. Despite looking strong in pre season testing it all went badly wrong with Olly Jefferies struggling to make the A final and Alan Bickerstaff down at the back of the B.

“I just don’t know what the problem was, I changed nothing on my car after a really good test here, its like it’s a totally different car and I am fighting to find a set up that works” said Olly, who went on to finish sixth overall and Alan seventh in the B. Hopefully better things to come at round two at Olly’s home track Cotswolds next month.

Congratulations to the pro stock guys and particularly Zak who scored his first national win and with a strong overall performance the team is looking to be a real contender in the national series this year.

Also a big thumbs up to Tom Jefferies who won the C final with the awesome looking Fastrax coloured Associated TC5 (pictured below).
