Caster Racing At Ontario’s RC Pro Series Round 2

Report by Kevin Taylor – Caster Canadian Team Captain

The 2nd round of Ontario’s RC Pro Series was held this past weekend at Action Hobbies in Kingsville, Ontario.  With over 100 registrations, the race was thick with talent, and I had to continually push until the end, as mere seconds separated the top of the field, but after hours of preparation after qualifying, my cars were ready to perform in the mains, and they did!

After qualifying, I earned the 10th position in the nitro buggy A-main and the 4th position in the electric buggy A-main.  With the nitro main underway, I quickly realised that I had lost my front brakes, and had to immediately alter my driving style to compensate for it.  I went with more of a ‘steady and roll the corners’ style, and it worked.  I continued to claw my way up to 3rd place with only 3 minutes to go.  I wasn’t able to push my car hard into the corners obviously, and got reeled in by Associated driver JB Catricala.  He passed me with 2 laps to go, and I wound up 4th and missed the podium.  The electric race held a rosier story for me though, and I clinched the 3rd podium spot after the triple A-mains were run.

The Caster buggies are truly remarkable.  No two ways about it!  They have continued to prove themselves as contenders, and have been bullet-proof out on the track.  At ‘tech’, the cars were all weighed and gone over with a fine tooth comb to make sure the playing field was level, and in both cases, the Caster car was just over the legal weight.  To many people’s surprise, the Caster ZX-1.5R and EX-1.5R buggies were both one of the lighter cars in their class.  This certainly helped make them faster.

With another 15 weekends of racing in a row ahead of me, I’m sure I will end up placing well and drawing more attention to Caster.  To date, there are dozens of new Caster owners in Ontario, and I’m happy have been a part of that.  It’s been a lot of fun helping to promote Caster, but not nearly as much fun as it’s been winning with them!
