Olly Jefferies took the new TC6 to its second consecutive victory at the final round of this season’s BTCC at West London. Using the event as a warm up for the forthcoming national, Olly Jefferies was joined for the final round of this season’s BTCC by his Irish team-mate Alan Bickerstaff. With the last national only two weeks away the Associated team are keen to finish the season on high.

Olly arrived at West London in a confident mood, fresh from winning the last BRCA touring car national at Halifax. Prior to that he had put the TC6 on pole at the previous national at Aldershot, the new Associated touring car showing great form prior to its worldwide release.

Most of the top touring car drivers were using the BTCC event as a dry run for the national and the event attracted a top class entry. The battle for pole in the super touring class was between Olly, Elliott Harper and Chris Grainger and once again it was Olly that came out on top taking TQ and setting a new track record for the grand prix layout at West London. Elliott lined up second with Chris Grainger third.

Alan Bickerstaff was also going well with the older TC5 qualifying a respectable sixth in the A final. The Associated/Novak backed driver has struggled a little from a lack of pre-race testing at nationals so hopefully this good showing will carry through to the national. We caught up with Alan to ask his opinion on his season so far:

  • “My biggest issue with competing in the UK national series is limited track time compared with the ‘more local’ competitors. Hence in 2010 I have attended 3 of the BTCC rounds in order to gain valuable experience of track time at the venues which I believe I needed track time on most. I can’t wait to get my hands on the new TC6 but I was also very pleased with the TC5. Perhaps there is life in the old girl yet! Looking forward to the west London national in 2 weeks time”.

The first of two A finals saw Olly make a good start and build up a comfortable lead. At the mid-point, Elliott and Chris closed the gap slightly but Olly held on to take leg one. Leg two promised to be a closer affair with Elliott and Chris going for new tyres while Olly stuck with old rubber. A coming together at the first hairpin saw Chris and Elliott drop back giving Olly some breathing space in the early laps, it was enough to allow Olly to get in to his stride build up a gap and take the second leg making it a clean sweep winning both A finals and taking TQ.

So another win for Olly and the TC6! Since getting the new car Olly has dominated the meetings he has entered and is delighted with the performance of the new car.
