Völker and Ielasi Win Italian Shepherd Trophy 2011

On the second weekend of March, the first Italian Shepherd Trophy 2011 was held at the Black Tarmac track in Mesero near Milan. For new Team Shepherd member Ronald Völker – accompanied by Shepherd mechanic Armin Weihert – it was the first official race with the Velox V10. Also attending was Daniele Ielasi racing the new Velox V8 “eleven” and supporting Ronald. With the help of Daniele Ielasi, Ronald’s feeling with the V10 was excellent. Both drivers worked together very well and Daniele will continue to assist Ronald at the European Championship in Ettlingen later this year.

In 1:10, after three rounds of qualifying it was Luca Redaelli on pole position followed by Ronald in second and Francesco Tironi, winner of the 2010 1:10 Italian Championship in third. After the 30-minute final, Ronald crossed the finishing line in first place to Daniele’s great satisfaction. Second place went to young Stefano Carlessi, a regular visitor of the Black Tarmac track and Velox V10 driver followed by Massimo Caglioti.

In the 1:8 on-road category, Daniele Ielasi attracted attention by setting a new lap record of 15.8 seconds. After taking the TQ spot, Daniele also won the final followed by the rising star Sara Bella, a young member of the Italian Shepherd Team.
