Monster Jam 2011

How-high-can-you-fly

Racer was lucky enough to be asked to attend the first day of the Monster Jam event held at Pride Park in Derby. The event sees ten of America’s best monster trucks fight it out against each other to see who comes out on top.

Logic RC with Traxxas attended the event putting on shows during the morning’s Pit Party that allowed you to get up close and personal with the trucks and Drivers. Meanwhile in  the Traxxas area, Elliot from Logic RC was showing his skills over a jump in a cordoned off section with a Traxxas Monster Mutt whilst on the other side of the track was a “have a go” section for the youngsters to enjoy with the full range of Monster Jam RC trucks to enjoy.

Back to the Action
At the start of the show, all ten full-size monsters trucks roar into life and complete a circuit of the venue and then one by one, the drivers are introduced.
The crowd and ours favourite was Grave Digger, getting the loudest applause which was followed up by the second loudest for Maximum Destruction. Traxxas had there own full-size truck present in the competition called E-Maxx that got a very warm reception.

Maximum-Destruction

Seeing these trucks in action is unbelievable – the height they can get off the jumps defies gravity. And the drivers know if they don’t go big, they go home! Grave Digger was the last truck out in the freestyle event and took a huge jump over the centre ramp, but landed funny causing the rear steering to get stuck! This didn’t matter though as when it hit the next ramp, this soon sorted itself out. That was until a few seconds later when Grave Digger hit the centre ramp at an angle, landed awkwardly despite the driver’s best attempts to correct it and the truck slammed down on its side. This didn’t matter though as the panel of judges for the competition awarded Grave Digger top marks for sheer lunacy and the crowd’s favourite walked away with the Monster Jam win!

We would like to thank Logic RC for having us along to the event. It was an amazing time out and you should go next year when the trucks will be back for more mayhem and chaos!
