Modelix Racing is proud to announce that Mugen/Novarossi/Procircuit/Nitrolux and Ultimate Racing driver Francisco Javier Saura is the 2011 1:8 off-road nitro Spanish B Champion. The third and last round of the Spanish B Nationals took place last weekend in Tarancón, Cuenca where five drivers had the chance to win the championship – Bárcena, Saura, Jose David Perez, Juan Wash and Rafael Espinosa. David Bárcena with his Bergonzoni was the driver to beat throughout the weekend, setting the fastest lap, TQ’ing all the qualifying rounds and winning his semi. Saura bumped up firstly from the quarters and was the only driver able to follow Bárcena in the A semi finishing second.
The final started with Bárcena taking the lead and opening an important gap. He was pushing hard when he unfortunately broke his Bergonzoni after a little mistake loosing the chance to win the championship and leaving the way clear to Saura, who was very consistent and able to win the race and the championship. Nonetheless Saura did a mistake with just two laps to go and Jose David Perez took the lead. They could both win the race and the championship, but it was Saura who in the end over the last jump got through and ended up first followed by Jose David Perez second and Rafael Albar third.
