Bloomfield and Lee Win BRCA Winter Open Championships

BWOC-1

The BRCA Winter Open Championship (BWOC) was hosted by the Silverstone Radio Control Model Car Club. They’re certainly not new to this sort of thing having organised the recent Area 51 GP. Again they put on a fine meeting, this time in a different location but the their regular club venue. The turnout wasn’t the highest but there was still a strong level of competition for the win.
In 2WD, Darren Bloomfield took pole position with his TLR 22. In the finals, only Schumacher’s Tom Cockerill driving the new Cougar SV2 was able to push Darren, but to no avail. Darren took all three legs to take the 2WD title with Tom Cockerill in second and Tom Yardy finishing off the podium in third with his Associated/Centro C4.1.

The 4WD event saw a slightly different track layout, but still one that would test the drivers. This time is was Tom Cockerill who fared best in qualifying to narrowly take pole position with his Schumacher CAT SX3. The three A finals had it all with a few controversial moves in the first two legs and even some penalties really mixing things up. It came down to a fight between Kevin Lee, Ellis Stafford and Tom Yardy in the final leg and it was a last corner dive from Kevin that meant he took the title with his Kyosho Lazer FS2 by a measly two hundredths of a second from the X-Factory X-7 prototype of Ellis Stafford in second with Tom Yardy third with his Associated B44.1.
