irish-nats-rd2Factory team driver Bradley Baird won the second round of the Irish Nats backed up with a win in the Electric class with Andrew Rennick. Here is a report from Bradley:

Round two of the Irish Nationals was held on a new track to the calendar in southern Ireland, Cork. Qualifying was again four seven minute heats. In nitro qualifying I TQ’d all four rounds and locked up qualifying. In electric JQ electric driver Andrew Rennick put in three consistent runs which put him third in the final. So both JQ’s on looking strong for the finals. The overall after qualifying in nitro was as followed:

Qualifying
1. Bradley Baird – JQ/nVision/VP Pro
2. Gary Baird – Kyosho/Bullitt/Beta
3. Barkley Abernathy – Agama/Bullitt/Beta

In the 45-minute nitro final, I got off to a clean start and for the first 15-minutes keep my laps calm and consistent and managed to pull a one lap lead over second place. As the final went on the tricky Cork surface began to rut up and become like a motocross track which made great racing and caught out the unprepared. But I kept it together to the end and claimed round two victory.

Final
1. Bradley Baird – JQ/nVision/VP Pro
2. Gary Baird – Kyosho/Bullitt/Beta
3. Alan Scroggie – Agama/Bullitt/Beta

In the electric final it was a three battle for the lead with great racing right to the buzzer, which saw Andrew Rennick take his JQ E-Car to the top step of the podium.
