The Once Over…HPI Racing Wheely King 4×4 Iron Outlaw

The Wheely King from HPI has been around for a good couple of years now. So here is it’s latest incarnation, the same chassis that we know and love but with some new bodyshells and graphics which mimic the US Monster Trucks made popular in the late 80’s.

During school holidays the TV used to be filled with Monster Trucks and now you can relive those moments with this replica of the Iron Outlaw which is a Monster truck racing in the USHRA Circuit. Just like the full scale monsters the Wheely King is so much fun.

Simply pop in the battery into the housing which uses a built in clip (No pins to loose) and connect the battery turn the transmitter and truck on and your off. A quick blip of the throttle on the included TF-1 Handset sees the nose point to the sky and the tail crash down onto the wheelie bar built into the rear of the chassis.

Hours of endless fun will come when you try and see if you can beat the length of the wheelie you just performed. This car is tough, there’s no doubt about it. Whilst in testing it has been flipped, jumped, bumped, crashed and rolled and nothing has broken off.

The chassis has a full multi link suspension setup and the steering servo is actually connected to the front axle using a three link system. Many hardcore RCers may not like this setup up due to the slop and flex it creates in the steering but give this to any child and watch how much fun they can have without any costly rebuilds!

The drive train is even fully ball raced which is a bonus for a RTR vehicle. A basic slow charger and 2000mah Battery are included in the box so all you have to buy are some batteries for the controller.

All in all, a great first model for kids and adults

For the Hardcore RC Racer, Pop in a faster motor, bigger battery, metal geared servo and really see what this truck can do!

Hello, I was just wondering if someone would be able to help me in identifying what type of remote controller (or transmitter) I would need to get to run my Iron Outlaw RC Monster Truck as featured on your website. I am just getting into these types of RC cars and don’t know a lot about them and/or what types of parts or remote controllers would work for them (or how to find out). I got the Iron Outlaw RC Monster Truck from a yard sale and the car seems in great shape, but they lost the controller/transmitter for it. Any help, guidance, or direction for this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time. -Kory

      Hi Kory

You will need to find a compatible HPI transmitter and the Wheely King 4×4 came with their TF-1 27MHz steerwheel model. If you are unable to find one then consider upgrading to a 2.4GHz transmitter and receiver package and this is where your local model shop will be able to help…

      Thanks
