TLR-22-3.0-build-1Welcome to our exclusive UK magazine build of the very latest and not-yet-released Team Losi Racing 22 3.0 2WD buggy. Over the next few days we will have an online build of the buggy ahead of a more detailed feature in the printed and digital magazine.

Ahead of the build, here are a couple more photos. First up is a comparison shot of the 22 2.0 chassis on top of the new 3.0 to highlight how much wider the new one is.

This is the Spektrum S6260 servo we will be using. It is the latest version with the removable lead, so you can select the right length for the car or application.

As we have an early sample, we relied on the online manual to build the 3.0 up.

The servo was bolted into the chassis along with the moulded sides, whilst the padded foam strips to help located the LiPo were stuck into the respective pockets.

The steering on the 3.0 features a bell crank design instead of the rack that was standard on the original 22 and the 2.0 model.

The bulkhead is fitted at the same time as the steering, camber link mount and upper moulding.

The new front wishbones (top) have a much more pronounced gull-wing shape to them.

The front hexes have been redesigned using a nut instead of a bolt to secure the wheel whilst the hex is now 12mm rather than 10mm to match the 22-4. Note the two holes for the outer hinge pin as VLA returns with the 3.0 model.

Note that the new spindles now feature an alloy spacer top and bottom to alter their position around the caster block.

CVD rear driveshafts use the captured pin method with the pivot inside the bearing.

The rear suspension now uses a narrower wishbone than before so lots of new parts here.

New versus old. The 3.0 rear tower and camber link mount on the left is of a much cleaner design and easier to work on too.
