iconic-rc-revival-2016-logoThe team behind Iconic RC have been incredibly busy over the winter working on some big events for 2016 and Racer is very proud to be associated with them with all the hard work that goes into them.

iconic-rc-iconic-cupFirst up is the Iconic Cup 2016 that pays homage to the on-road electric Tamiya Eurocup that ended in 2004, and the classes reflect that classic racing series. The 2016 inaugural two-date series will be hosted by West London Racing Centre and Broxtowe Model Car Club. Round one takes place at West London in Middlesex on Sunday 8 May and the second event is at Broxtowe in Nottinghamshire on Sunday 12 June. Gates open at 07:30 for booking in and practice with drivers briefing at 09:15 and the first round of qualifying at 09:30. Both clubs will be open on the previous Saturday afternoon for practice and will offer overnight camping that night.

iconic-rc-buggythonThe next event is the Buggython 2016 and this is a team build and race weekender, hosted by Robin Hood Raceway in North Nottinghamshire, over the weekend of 18-19 June. The chosen chassis for 2016 is the Tamiya 4WD TT-02B Neo Scorcher/Dual Ridge and teams will need to bring a new in box Neo Scorcher or Dual Ridge to build as part of the event. The kits cost approximately £80 without the speed control.
Teams of three will be given two hours to build their buggy to instruction manual specification. Each team will paint the shell their own unique colour but these, like the build have to be finished as per the manual. When the two hours are up, the buggies will be judged in a concourse for points. If a team finishes first within the two hours they will also be given points. Teams will then be given a short time to finish off the buggies before a round of racing. There will be three rounds of racing and finals and each team member needs to drive for one of the rounds. There will also be a two-hour endurance race and other points scoring activities. Spare kit parts can be used and are recommended.
More information on the Buggython can be found here.

Last and by no means least there is the 2016 Revival – a vintage racing festival for charity and will take place across the weekend of 30-31 July at A1 Racing Club in Grantham, South Lincolnshire.
